1.The adverb, often used in conjunction with, means that it comes from the original

It is often used to describe the only unalterable natural state of being in which things are innate. (before - now no change)

My hair is blonde, not dyed.

His skin was brown by nature.

He was born and bred in xi 'an. He had spoken the xi 'an dialect since childhood, not later.

1、 副词,常与就是连用,表示即由本而来

常被用来形容事物先天本有的唯一的不变的自然存在状态。(以前-现在没变化)
我的头发本来就是金色的,不是染的。
他的皮肤本来就是棕色的,是天生的。
本来就是一个土生土长的西安人,他从小就说西安话,不是后来学的。

2, adjective, as attributive
The more times you wash the clothes, the less they are.
The original purpose of the invention of medicine is to cure diseases, not to make money.

2、形容词,作定语

衣服洗的次数多了,就不是本来的颜色了。
人类发明药,本来的目的是为了治病,不是赚钱。
 

As an adverb, it is reasonable to do so
You are not well, you can not go out, you must go, this next fever bar.
Grain, vegetable ought to sell originally some cheaper, common people can afford.
Friday was already a traffic jam, plus now it is the rush hour to get off work, how can there be no traffic jam!

3、作副词,表示按照道理应该这样

你的病还没好,本来就不能出去,你非要去,这下又发烧了吧。
粮食、蔬菜本来就应该卖的便宜些,老百姓才能买得起。
礼拜五本来就堵车,再加上现在又是下班的高峰,怎么可能不堵车呢!

You shouldn't have told her you knew she wouldn't take it.
You should have gone there yourself. You can't do it now. You have to go yourself.

本来嘛,你就不该不告诉她,就知道她肯定接受不了。

本来嘛,你就应该亲自去一趟,现在办不了,不是还得自己去。
 

4. Originally... But... . (HSK4)
Change, change, change, change, change, change
She used to be a meat lover, but now she's a vegetarian.
Man invented medicine, originally to cure diseases, but now some businesses see it as a matter of making money.
This house was originally lived by an old man, but now the child is married, less than 50 square meters of house for four people.

4、本来……,但是(可是)……。(HSK4级)

表示较之以前发生了变化(变)
本来是个无肉不欢的人,但是现在是一个素食主义者。
人类发明药,本来是为了治病的,但是现在有些商家把它当成一件赚钱的事。
这套房子本来是老人家一个人住,现在孩子结婚了,不到50平米的房子住了四口人。

Change of plan = change of plan = change of plan = change of plan But... .
We had planned to go to the Great Wall tomorrow, but the weather forecast said it would rain tomorrow, so we went next week.
We were supposed to go back to our hometown during the Spring Festival, but we were too busy buying tickets for the Spring Festival travel rush, so we changed it to May Day.

*计划改变 本来+打算/要……,但是(可是)……。

我们本来打算明天去长城,可是天气预报说明天下雨,所以我们改到下周再去。
我们本来要春节的时候回老家的,但是因为春运买票太紧张,所以改到五一的时候回去。

* contrary to my previous guess... But... .
I thought he was Chinese, but I didn't realize he was a foreigner. He speaks Chinese so well!
I thought she was a reasonable person, but I didn't think she could be so unreasonable.

*与之前的猜测不一致 本来+以为(觉得  )……,但是(可是)……。

本来以为他是中国人,但是没想想到他居然是个外国人。他的汉语说得太好了!
本来觉得她是个通情达理的人,(但是)没想到她居然这么蛮横、不讲道理。

Note:
* can be used as an adjective, attributive in a sentence, sometimes meaning the same
Ex. :
The original arrangement was to have a meeting in the morning and a visit in the afternoon, but now it is changed to a visit in the morning and a meeting in the afternoon.
After all these years of development, the town is not what it used to be.

注意:

*都可以作形容词,在句子中作定语,有时候意思一样
例:
本来(原来)的安排是上午开会,下午参观,现在改成了上午参观,下午开会。
经过了这些年的开发,小镇早已不是它本来(原来)的样子了。

* both can be used as adverbs, either before or after the subject;
Ex. :
I used to enjoy going to parties, but then the trouble wore off.
I didn't live here originally. I just moved here six months ago.
Originally (originally) I don't like to speak foreign languages, but now I'm used to speaking more.

*都可以作副词,可以放在主语前面,也可以放在主语后面;

例:
我原来(本来)挺喜欢参加聚会的,但是后来觉得麻烦就不爱去了。
本来(原来)我不住在这儿,半年前刚搬来。
本来(原来)我不爱说外语,现在习惯了,说得多了。
